January 2021 Update

January 11, 2021

Dear friend of Camp Tadmor,

As we enter the new year, we have had to make hard decisions and big changes. Our hearts continue to be saddened by the events of 2020. The onslaught of COVID-19, mixed with the racial and political strife, made it challenging for everyone. It was not the year any of us planned, but it was the year God continued to show up as the Lord Most High. His mercies are new every morning, and His faithfulness is great! My prayer is that this letter finds you well and hopeful in the Lord.

The setbacks of 2020 have made it hard to operate, and we have had to make some hard changes. The impact of our international pandemic drastically reduced Camp Tadmor's ministry last year, and there is no evidence this will change anytime soon. Unfortunately, all of Camp Tadmor's upcoming youth programs for summer 2021 are canceled. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to lay off most of the Tadmor staff. Zack Brown (Facilities Coordinator), Erik Tuneberg (Guest Services Manager), and Cora Tuneberg (Registrar) will remain on staff to continue in Tadmor's ministry until we're able to resume our programs.

Based on state regulations, we will open Camp Tadmor to rental groups through the spring and summer of this year. Our prayer is to see Tadmor soon return to normal operations, so people of all ages come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

As an organization, Church Venture Northwest (formerly known as CB Northwest) has also had its fair share of challenges. Along with making necessary changes to our staff, Church Venture employees moved out of our Portland offices this past summer and now work remotely to reduce our deficit. These are difficult days to navigate, but we continue to trust in the Lord our God.

If you are a Camp Tadmor Champion, your investment has already saved Tadmor. Camp saw a bigger influx of giving in 2020 than we've had for many years. Last year brought almost no revenue, so your gifts helped to keep camp afloat. We were awed and astounded by our Tadmor family. Moving forward, we will continue to rely on your generosity to help camp operate. Please visit tadmor.org/give to partner in this ministry.

This year will afford a unique opportunity for churches to bring groups to Tadmor during the summer months. Renting Tadmor for a week or a weekend is another great way to partner with us through this time. If you're interested in renting at Camp Tadmor please email Erik Tuneberg at [email protected].

This year may be another long, hard road for many of us. As we continue to trust in God's provision and faithfulness, your continued partnership with Camp Tadmor gives us hope and deep gratitude.

Grace and peace,

James Gleason
